UNE isn’t the only party with an interest in taking proactive measures to ensure the Saco River Estuary’s long-term health. As such, the scientists and students at UNE have built partnerships with a diverse group of other stakeholders from the Saco and Biddeford communities and beyond.
Through the Saco River Estuary Project, we foster meaningful discourse and present activities that offer local organizations and individuals who depend on the estuary for their livelihood or for recreation the chance to do their part in maintaining the estuary. From shellfish harvesters to marinas and tackle shops, to property owners along the river, fishermen, birders, and boat enthusiasts, we’ve found many willing partners.
